The Greatest Showman Review
Last week I went to see The Greatest Showman in the cinema and (spoiler) it was one of the best films I’ve ever seen!
When I first saw the trailer I was a bit sceptical – I didn’t think this was going to be the film for me. I do enjoy musicals like Mamma Mia and Hairspray, but I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy this film as much as I enjoy those. I then saw multiple tweets from multiple people telling everyone how amazing it was – so obviously I had to go and see it!
Before seeing the film, I listened to the soundtrack just to get me in the mood. I LOVED the album and it made me want to see the film even more and see how the music looks in action. I adore pretty much every song and have listened to it over and over again.
Now onto the film…
The Greatest Showman is inspired by the real-life story of P.T Barnum. In the film, Barnum is dismissed from his job and has to find a new way to support his family. Barnum begins to piece together The Greatest Show with unique and very talented individuals. Of course, not everything goes plain sailing – I’ll leave the plot there, better get yourself to a cinema to find out how it turns out!
The film itself is stunning! I was in awe at the choreography of each number and each character brings something different to the show. There were a few tears, not going to lie. The story was incredibly heartwarming and my friend and I were beaming by the end of the final number.
Even if you’re not normally a musical person, the recurring drama and action should hopefully satisfy you, and I will be very surprised if you don’t at least appreciate the magic on the screen!
So now that I’ve gone on and on about how much I love The Greatest Showman, I hope you go out and enjoy it as much as I do!
